Downloadable Motivation
Need
motivation? Who doesn't, at least once in awhile?
Enduranceradio.com, a Mission Viejo-based company,
offers interviews with athletes you can download onto
your MP3 player. Athletes like Lauri Fauerbach Adams, a
35-year old marathon runner and triathlete. After
recovering from a bike crash at the Lake Placid Ironman
competition, she made changes to her dieting and
training program and improved her performance. You can
log on to the site and download her story of the changes
she made and her plans for the future. With 150,000
downloadable interviews, you'll have no excuse to lose
momentum during your next workout.
If you prefer music to
elevate your heart rate, check out marinaonline.com,
where $.99 buys you 15 minutes of workout music.
Marina, the founder, former musician and aerobics
instructor, lost 100 pounds working out to her own music
and now shares the wealth. Or at least the music. Choose
from walking and aerobic workout music, high-impact
aerobics, body sculpting/stretching music and sitting to
the beat, for those less-than-strenuous exercise
sessions.
Reasons for Weight Fluctuations
If
you're doing everything right, exercising regularly and
cutting back on your portions, don't fret about a pound
or two one way or another. For women, especially,
fluctuations in water can undermine motivation by adding
pounds to the scale that may disappear just as easily.
Here are some examples:
Fluid intake: If you drank 16 ounces of water and
stepped on a scale, it would cause an immediate "weight
gain" of one pound
Not
enough fiber: if your digestive system is backed up
for more than a day, your scale may register as much as
two pounds more than normal
You're on vacation: flights longer than four hours
and the inherent air pressure changes can alter the
scale from one to three pounds
You
ate Chinese: a salty meal the night before can make
your body retain as much as three pounds the following
morning
Hormonal changes: three days prior to a woman's
menstrual period the scale may register as much as a
five pound weight gain
